Colour is crucial in Sevn. This competitive puzzler takes place on a 3D grid made up of 49 coloured towers, with players taking turns to remove them from the grid.
The first player to collect seven towers of the same colour – or collect the most colours when time expires – wins.
That’s the short version, anyway; more complex rules govern Sevn’s simple premise, which allows for several interesting strategies to develop. Smart players will try to set themselves up to take several towers in one round, or make sure their opponent is limited to only one. Greediness can often be a losing strategy too; take too many towers in a round and you open up more towers for your opponent to snag.
Sevn’s meditative soundtrack and gentle colour palette combine beautifully too, creating a calming contrast to the tense, competitive puzzling.
You can play against bots of escalating difficulty levels, or you can test your mettle out in the wilds of online multiplayer; however you play, Sevn’s soothing sensibility makes this colourful tug-of-war a winner.
