1. One upon a time there lived a farmer. He is so hard-working and very kind to everybody. For all his life of being hard work, he become a rich man in the region. The farmer has two sons. The older son is very lazy and often play with bad friends. The younger son is somehow like his father: hard-working and always do good things.
One day an old poor man walking by the farmer door and begs the farmer for food. The farmer gives the poor man a good meal and behaves him kindly. The poor man before leaving gives the farmer two trees and says :"This is the tree of goodness. I know you have two sons, please give them each one tree and tell them to do the good things. Do good things will make the tree to grow fast. Then the tree will make their lives better."
The farmer appreciates the poor man a great deal, then he calls his sons to give them the trees, not forgetting to tell them the words of the old poor man.
The two sons take their trees and each plants the tree at one corner of the garden. The older son of course doesn't take care of the tree much. He doesn't believe the old man and he is busy playing with his friends. Therefor his tree withers day after day. The younger son in contrast tries to do many good things and loves the tree so much. His tree of goodness soon grows very fast.
As time goes by, the farmer gets older and dies. The older son takes all of the fortune and leave his brother only a small cottage with a very small rocky garden that even tree could hardly grow there. The younger son doesn't feel sad at all. He takes his tree of goodness to the new house and plants it in the garden.
With the fortune from the farmer, the older brother spends more money in playing all day and night. He thinks: "I have a lot of money, I don't need to work. I can live in luxury to the end of my life". His tree of goodness is still left in the corner of the garden, but he doesn't take care about it. He often says when he walks by the tree: "Hey the tree of goodness, I don't need to be a good person, still my life is perfect!"
The younger brother tries his best to work. Life is hard but he is still happy. And he always finds ways to do good things. He helps the old man in the village to harvest the crop or help the poor old widow to collect wood. Thanks to this, everyone loves the younger brother very much. And as he does many good work, his tree of goodness grows very well.
One day the tree of the younger brother starts to give beautiful flowers and then fruits. The fruits get bigger and bigger, give so sweet fragrance. Then the fruits are ripen. The younger brother cuts some of the fruits and gives them to the neighbors and poor people in the village. The big, sweet fruits are truly good present to them.
The younger brother then brings the fruits to the market. Everyone loves the fruits so much, and it does not take long for him to sell all of his fruits. He earns quite a big amount of money.
With the money from selling the fruits, the younger brother buys a good land to plant tree, rice and raise some animals. Still he works very hard and continues to do good things. After several years of hard work, in addition to the money from selling the fruits, he now becomes a rich man.
What about the older brother? Will his life be good if he spend all of his day playing and spending money like throwing leaves out of the windows?
