MyBodyGallery.com allows people to see real bodies unmediated by the photographic manipulation and selection process that happens in advertising and popular culture. With a simple search tool, visitors can review user-submitted photos and data showing the variances in physiques among people of the same height, weight, and clothing size. Visitors can create user accounts to upload their own photos.
By helping people to objectively see what real bodies look like, MyBodyGallery.com promotes body positivity, nurtures acceptance of the fact that we are all beautiful, and offers community. Through browsing images of "real bodies" crowdsourced by everyday people, visitors to the website can help heal the damage caused to body image by media perpetuations of body shapes and sizes that are unrealistic for most people.
