Descripción

Welcome to Te Ihi, an educational taonga (invaluable resource) created by Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa. Here, you can start and continue your journey of learning te reo Māori me ōna tikanga (the Māori language and its customs).

It's important to us that you feel supported and gain a balanced understanding of te reo Māori and te ao Māori (a Māori worldview). This resource will help you learn the basics of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, whakataukī (proverbs), karakia (chants/prayers) and waiata (songs).

This taonga will help you increase your knowledge and confidence in te ao Māori, so you can provide a better experience for Māori.

This resource aims to help fulfil Sport NZ Group's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) and enhance our understanding and capability in Māori culture.
