The City Palace Museum Apps , Udaipur
The City Palace Museum, Udaipur (CPMU), administered by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF) was set up in 1969 to safeguard and preserve the cultural heritage and the time honoured traditions of the people of Mewar.
Rana Udai Singh II the father of Rana Pratap laid the foundation of the City Palace, in A.D. 1559, on the advice of a Hermit Goswami Prem Giriji Maharaj. The museum and its collections are housed within the extensive areas of the historic city palace at Udaipur. The larger city palace built tier on tier over four centuries includes within its precincts an array of former royal apartments, historic courtyards, ceremonial durbar halls, delightful enclosed gardens, terraced quarters and sacred temples.
The CPM apps is packed with a wonderful architectural experience of the built heritage of the region specially developed for iOS devices like iPad/iPhone users across the globe. The apps showcases the extensive collection of artefacts that reflect the unique cultural heritage of the region. The objects on display include, an extensive collection of Mewar paintings showcasing the continuous unbroken tradition of this art from the 16th century. These works of art are a source of great pride and form part of the tangible heritage of the people of Mewar. You will enjoy to see other major collections held by the museum include a vast collection of traditional arms and ammunition, silver artefacts, musical instruments and a large collection of photographs paralleling the arrival of the camera in India.
The CPMU continues to be the centre-of-excellence of the region’s tradition and is a symbol of the cultural legacy of Mewar. It has always been a self-sufficient developing centre within itself and shall continue to grow into an ideal prototype of a living palace complex. The museum today functions as the preserver of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Mewar in these times of rapid change and cultural homogeneity. It’s our privilege to welcome every year, over 8,00,000 visitors from India and all over the world, truly to witness the heritage of Mewar as enshrined in The City Palace Museum. Hope you will enjoy viewing the app and give us chance to welcome you at ‘The City Palace Museum, Udaipur-Rajasthan-India’
