Calling all trainers! In Pokémon Unite, teams of five take part in thrilling battles with – and against – your favourite critters.
Blending classic Pokémon tactics with up-tempo strategy, it’s a fast-paced evolution of the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre.
Team up in groups of five and face off against another team in a Unite Battle. Defeat wild Pokémon and collect Aeos energy, which you’ll need to shoot into the opponent’s goal for points.
Be a team player
Whether it’s Fire, Water or Grass, a Pokémon’s type doesn’t give them an advantage in battle. However, there are different battle styles, which will affect their strengths and weaknesses.
Attackers have high attack power with low defence, and conversely, Defenders have strong defensive abilities at the cost of attack strength; meanwhile, All-Rounders strike a balance between attack and defence. Speedsters are quick on their feet, and while Supporters may not have the highest stats, they possess special techniques to assist their teammates.
When choosing a Pokémon, consider what role it can play in the team: will you take down opponents’ Pokémon to help your teammates reach the goal, restore your teammates’ health or protect your own goal from your opponents? Play to your Pokémon’s strengths.
While you might want to participate with your favourite Pokémon every time, you can only have one of each Pokémon on a team. Try selecting a Pokémon that adds variety to your team’s abilities. Remember, diversity is key!
Train your Pokémon
In order for a Pokémon to participate in Unite Battles, you’ll need a Unite License. Each License can only be used for one Pokémon.
After completing the tutorial, you can select a Unite License for one of the following Pokémon: Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Snorlax, Talonflame or Eldegoss. If your favourite Pokémon isn’t on the list, don’t worry – you’ll be able to unlock more Pokémon and purchase more Unite Licenses as you play and earn rewards from battles.
For a bit of fun customisation, you can dress up your Pokémon in adorable outfits. Purchase them at the Zirco Trading shopping corner and choose outfits from Aeos Emporium. How about coordinating with the trainer’s outfit? Cute!
Battle for big rewards
Once you’ve honed your skills in practice mode, make sure to participate in Unite Battles with other Pokémon trainers to experience the fun of working together as a team.
