Turn your iPad into a Cintiq - but you have to pay extra
I’m using Duet Pro, mostly for working with Adobe Animate on Windows 10. Subscription is quite expensive, but now I’m able to work wirelessly on Adobe Animate while lying on my bed! Had some difficulties connecting at first, but the support team on their Facebook page was very helpful.
My only problem is the gestures. Sometimes I try to zoom/move around the screen on Adobe animate with my fingers (while using the pen tool), but ended up leaving a dot on the canvas where my finger was.
EDIT - Biggest flaw: The basic version (non-pro) has no undo-redo gestures and no pressure sensitivity. If using the basic version, I’ll only give 3 stars - but their support team is very helpful so 4 stars.
Great for the road
I had been using Duet for quite sometime, ever since I had my iPad pro 2017. I need a second screen for my pc during travel usually weeks at a time, which I do often before pandemic. I was searching for a portable display then I found Duet. Why not give it a go, since I already have the ipad. I am a trainer so a second screen during teaching off-base is great, and now with online learning I can use my laptop even when I am not home or in the office. I am also heavy into Stock Trading, which best view on Microsoft Internet Explorer (the prehistoric version) having additional screen on the go is just a god send, especially with existing hardware. The price of the apps is very reasonable, I don’t mind the trade off having to use usb instead of the “air” version. It’s sufficient for my usage. I experience slight laggy on the display, it’s useable but maybe can be improved further. I had some issues with apps purchase in the apps store after getting my new iPad Pro 2021 where the Apple rep probably don’t understand my problem. I reach out to duet support although it is not their problem, the do accommodate my problem but in the end I able to restore purchase without problem. Overall, this apps is very good if you need a second monitor and you already have the ipad. The price is reasonable and it works with just slight lag, that I can live with. Thanks.
Second screen for chat apps
Have been using duet display with my iPad as a second screen for chat apps when I’m working on my main screen. So far it’s been working proper. Would love to be able to use a virtual keyboard to type in chat window. Had some issues where diet couldn’t connect to my desktop but their customer care representatives were quick to help solve the issue. Would highly recommend using this if you need a 2nd screen and have a spare device to connect to.
