Apollo is the first app to use the depth data of your portrait mode photos to calculate photorealistic light and shadow. Using a proprietary processing algorithm running on your iPhone's graphics card, Apollo is able to render light sources on a portrait scene or selfie in real time.

Apollo allows professional photographers and amateurs alike to try things that are not possible in the physical world. You can shape scene lighting by adding or even removing light. Since lights are computationally rendered in the scene, it is possible to put a light source within the frame: say hello to invisible lamps!

The UI is optimised for use with one thumb, allowing you to always view the entire photo. One price, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

Needs alot of improvements!

This app open the original photo and somehow darkens it. From there the app will give new light to selected spots; which is weird cause I was expecting it will open the original photo with it’s current lighting situation and enable me to give new light to the dark areas instead of it darkening the original photo which is silly! Why did the app darken the whole photo before i get to start. And the areas that was originally okay is now all spoil and cant be lighted again. THIS APP NEEDS ALOT OF IMPROVEMENTS! Im so sad now.

thanks for the feedback. When you open a photo, a single new light source is being added to light the scene. The original photo is dark because there is not enough light to light all the scene. You must take photos with uniform lighting for better results and play with the settings in order to achieve a nice setup. For the time being, experiment with the shadows and effect range parameters when you have a single light added. The app is simple but it needs time to master it.
In any case we are working on making the app easier and better to understand.

Hi dannnnnnmn, Apollo can only process portrait-mode photos, which can be taken with iPhone 7+, 8+ or X. This is clearly stated in the app’s description in the App Store but has been missed from the promotional article. The latter has not been written by the company that created the app, but by Apple. We have already contacted them in order they proceed with the necessary changes within the article regarding which devices are supported. Unfortunately, it is not technically feasible to prevent non dual-camera devices from downloading the app. Any device running iOS 11 or later can run the app (that is the term 'works on this iPhone') but only dual camera devices can take 'portrait mode' photos. If you feel you have wasted your money buying Apollo, you can always ask for a refund from Apple.
We believe that giving Apollo a bad app store review because of device support is unfair to the development team. We strive to make Apollo better and better, and we think we should be judged based on things we can fix.
