Duolingo - Language Lessons 4+

To those of you out there who are considering on downloading this app, it is 100% incredible and definitely helped me to upgrade my language skills! During the school holiday, my sister urged me to try this app and I didn’t have anything else to do so I agreed! Little did I know that it would change my entire life! In one of my language classes at school, I could not believe my ears when my teacher actually smiled and told me I improved on my vocabulary and grammar! I want to share this with you so you can improve your language skills just like I did! Your language grades will change very dramatically from a disappointing ‘D’ to an amazing ‘A’! I would like to take this chance to thank Duolingo - your app was both educational and fun as well as motivating! Whoever made this app was a descendent of Einstein!

Duolingo is one of the best apps out there than can aid you to learn languages. Weekly leagues to motivate you to spend time to do your lessons and rank up to the next league. Ads are there after each lesson, but it is negligible (10-15s; just to keep it free)
However there are some issues I’d like to highlight.
Lessons: there seems to be some error such that lessons don’t load when switching Duo from the iPhone to the iPad or vice versa. The only workaround is that i have uninstalled the app from one device to be able to properly use it on the other.
Ads: i did mention that the ads are short & negligible. However, the ads seemed to auto-pause itself after lesson during the “double lesson XP in 15 mins”. Now I suspect this is a bug/glitch because it happens during the double xp thing but after the 15 minutes is over, the ads doesn’t auto-pause.
Leagues: like football, there are promotions and demotions. Top 10 gets promoted to the upper leagues while the bottom 3 gets demoted. The highest league is Diamond, where if you finished first, you’ll unlock “Legendary” skill. I noticed that some players who have achieved this is trying perhaps too hard to win it again (not giving other players a chance to win). Maybe pooling players who have finished #1 in Diamond together and separate them from those who haven’t would help other players to acheive the said skill.

It’s quite disappointed with the new updates. I do not expect a renew in the course and the it has completely wiped off my progress. Although there are new elements that are really helping me to improve my vocabulary but it’s more random than the previous version. The updates should be Insert as a new level instead of adding it to previous level and reset the entire course. I have been progressing very well In the old version and now I have to relearn in a new style again. It’s a very good app for language learning and i have been recommending to people around me. Before this, I would give five stars to it but after the update, it takes away my passion to keep learning so I would only give two stars. Please never update and wipe your student’s progress, progression helps us to keep learning.

And also, it is becoming more monetary, now even revision is lives based. It used to be free from lives in Japanese course n then changed to new lessons will deduct live if we got wrong now even revision oso deduce our lives. With ads showing up each lesson we complete now. Getting me more frustrated.
