Please add current time on landscape mode
This is probably an iOS UX issue than Waze UX issue but ever since iOS 13, one can no longer see the current time as the black status bar that shows the time and reception is no longer visible on landscape mode.
The rationale behind displaying the current time is at any point during a drive in traffic jam, one might want to override Waze current route based on the current time not on the ETA being pushed back by the minute. I realised this when the current time went missing and it did my experience with Waze.
Fallen from grace
I have been a Waze user from the early version when they were a small team and Google didn’t have anything to do with the company. It has been my go-to app for navigation. But since recent months, Waze has been very unreliable. Almost all the time it will show errors such as no network, routing error, no search results etc. That’s not to include the time it takes to recalculate navigation which is painfully long, enough to make you miss at least one junction. What’s wrong, Waze team? Is this a deliberate attempt to make the app as broken as possible to sway users to use GMaps, which is the parent company of Waze? Has the bright minds at Waze slowly left the company after the acquisition by Google, so what’s left now are the incompetents who have no clue how to maintain the service quality as Waze used to be in its glory days?
Waze used to be so great that I couldn’t leave my house without. But it started to go downwards in recent months, always prompted errors when I launched the app; start navigating only after 2-3 attempts of closing and reopening the app. Sometimes Waze suggested routes that take longer time, which I’ve verified by using usual route and watched it recalculating. I even experienced being trapped in going a big round by following Waze, having return to the same spot over and over again. Waze has grown with a lot of features over the years, but has compromised its basic navigation function for other ‘wow’ features that are not as important to me. I truly missed the old Waze.
