If you’ve never encountered cute colourful critters called Sumisumi before, then buckle up! The entertaining puzzle game Sumi Sumi is about to introduce you to such a mind-boggling number of them, you’ll soon find it hard to imagine a pre-Sumisumi world altogether.
The super sweet Sumisumi are the creation of the Sumikko god, Sumigamisama, who’ll also be on hand throughout the game to offer you tips on how to play. But it seems he’s gotten a tad carried away and now there are Sumisumi everywhere. It’s up to you to do a little spring cleaning and get rid of some of them – harsh, maybe, but lots of fun.
Every level brings you to a room packed with Sumisumi and all you have to do is tap wherever you see two or more of the same character next to each other. As one set disappears, new Sumisumi move in to replace them. You’ll get points for all your hard work and there’s a fixed number of taps available to clear each stage.
If you dissipate more than a certain number of characters at once, drums appear and these are particularly helpful for sweeping Sumisumi removal. Drums with an arrow, for example, will erase Sumisumi in the direction of the arrow, while rainbow drums (awarded when you clear 10 or more Sumisumi at once) remove whatever type of character is pictured on the drum face.
Try turning some of these adorable characters into buddies. Every buddy has special skills, which are useful for getting bonus points and cleaning up. You can get buddies from the in-game toy vending machine, so be sure to save up your coins!
At first, stages are easy-peasy to clear. But from Stage 2 onwards… well, we’ll let you find out for yourself. And just wait until you come across the stage with the giant desserts – they’re a treat!
Sumi Sumi is more than a puzzle game; it’s a constantly evolving world of candy colours and adorable characters, which throws up plenty of surprises along the way for good measure.
