Knights of Pen & Paper 2
Hilarious Retro RPG!
Role-playing games have captivated us for a long, long time. Back in the day, it was all about the fun of trying to master classic tabletop games while assuming unique roles and exploring imaginary worlds (the most famous of which, Dungeons & Dragons, won fans all over the world). Now, Knights of Pen and Paper 2 is bringing us on a nostalgia-filled experience in a nod to the classics thanks to its distinctive retro feel and, in the process, introduces a whole new world of entertainment. This is tabletop role-playing 2.0.
The best RPGs live and breathe the sense of escapism that comes from stepping into a world filled with unexpected characters, challenges and mysteries. And in all its colourful pixel glory, the world of Paperos in Knights of Pen and Paper 2 does just that.
You’ll control a party of up to five characters, all of whom have their own unique personalities, abilities and attributes, which give you the power to assemble a diverse squad in preparation to do battle and venture on quests. Once you’ve chosen your characters, take your place at the table in the Game Room opposite the chubby Dungeon Master. This guy is, in a word, important; he manages the game and is your key to navigating your way through the world of Paperos.
Your Dungeon Master is not just your narrator, he keeps the game world ticking along smoothly. Something of a legend in the realm of game masters, he’s also armed with jokes and puns galore that will keep you on your toes.
If you want to introduce a fresh dynamic to the game, tap the Friend Connect button to invite and join forces with your pals; when they use the Friend Code you’ve sent them, you’ll receive rewards to help you during your next battle. Every location in Paperos has its own quests and enemies, and you can choose to make your chosen battle easy or hard to win. Don’t be shy in stepping things up a gear when the time comes, you’ve got the power to beat your opponents (even the terrifying Tarasque) if you can play your crew’s strengths to your advantage.
What makes Knights of Pen and Paper 2 so much fun is the fact that you get to choose not only your characters, but also the challenges they are up against. Whether you’re new to role-playing games, or a seasoned veteran, this is a tabletop RPG that retains the intrigue, excitement and humour of old-school games and whisks you away on a virtual adventure you’ll want to jump back into over and over…
