Description
Planet Scorcher is a strategy game that combines the latest climate research with plausible scenarios giving you a chance to see if you can stop the global warming.
You are the leader of a global government with the power to decide on policies applicable to all regions of the world. Your goal is to reduce the average global temperature.
Quick gameplay gives you the chance to try and test different approaches. You decide on policies, research spending – and taxation. Every decision you make impacts your approval. Every policy decision impacts the climate – whether it is geoengineering, restrictions or investments.
Planet Scorcher is based on state-of-the-art data and research, including:
- Aggregated emission data covering 200 areas of economic activity for each of the 8 regions
- Major greenhouse gases aggregated to CO2-equivalents (including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide)
- Long-term GDP, population and energy demand forecasts based on OECD, UN, World Bank and International Energy Agency data
- Dozens of simulation models covering everything from solar activity to energy consumption per person
- Feedback mechanisms with changes in emissions and other metrics interacting to simulate real-world trends
- Hundreds probable climate events from local shifts to global events
- Complex temperature forecasting engine feed with input based on thousands of data-points that you can influence!

Temperature impact:
* We have added an estimated temperature impact information for policies and events. It provides data on the current and future impact for all items.
* Temperature forecast now shows the temperature without your policies giving you more context.
* There is also an additional screen with all the items impacting temperature listed.
Approval:
* Managing approval is now easier with a new type of policy: “approval”.
* We have also added 4 policies that help to increase your popularity.
Game statistics:
* In the temperature tile, we added a gallery of easy-to-understand statistics, describing an “average person”.
Other changes:
* New multi-step tutorial has been added, familiarising players with the most important screens.
* Multiple balancing changes to policies, engine and events have been made.
* Several minor content and UI adjustments have been made to make the game more engaging.
