Nature and outdoor enthusiasts love Wikiloc. There are more than 80 activities in the app, including hiking, cycling, sailing and horse riding and more than 50 million trails. Wherever you are and whatever interests you, you’re bound to find something here that suits. Wikiloc covers plenty of ground: start by finding inspiration and planning your adventure at home, take it with you to navigate your trail safely, then share your experience when you’re back, all right in the app.

What we love: Wikiloc is more than a navigation app, it’s a dedicated community of people who share trails, points of interest and photos of their journeys. Behind every trail is someone who has been there and is willing to share insights and tips from their experience for the benefit of others.

Record your route and use Live Tracking so that family and friends can check your progress.

Quick tip: Get a more realistic view of your route with the app’s 3D raised relief maps, which are useful for seeing the types of terrain that await. When you’re recording your trails, you can add images to points of interest – it’s a visually appealing way for the Wikiloc community to see what they can expect.

Meet the creator: When founder Jordi Ramonet went mountain biking with his friends, he would take photos of the places they visited, but as he says, “I wanted something more than photos, I was looking for a way to visualize the trails we just did on a map, see the kilometres, the elevation gain, the places we passed through, the summits we climbed.” So he set about working on what would become Wikiloc.
