Great app for quick, beautiful documents
The app works perfectly and allows me to quickly create beautiful documents without thinking too much about it. If you’re down with using Markdown for your notes and letters, this is a great app.
My only small annoyances are with the export to html and PDF options; for HTML I would like a way to use my own CSS for exporting (maybe themes?) and for PDF having a way to do page breaks would be great. Not strictly Markdown, but it would be very useful.
Makes me work fast
Byword is my favorite text editor for years now. It's simple, it's clean, it's fast. It lets me focus on writing entirely; I love that.
I publish a blog using Jekyll, and Byword is just perfect for that. I write and edit my posts using Markdown, then save them as .md files, upload them to the server, and that's all.
Onmisbaar voor wie een boek schrijft
Wie een boek schrijft, heeft vaak twee problemen: tijdgebrek en afleiding. Dit programma maakt die problemen beter hanteerbaar. De schrijfomgeving is vrij van afleiding, hoewel er iets meer keuzevrijheid is voor de gebruiker dan bij concurrent IAWriter (je kunt in Byword het lettertype veranderen en de breedte van de schrijfkolom). En je kunt, als je een één of meer iOS-apparaten hebt, middels iCloud overal verder werken.
De preview-modus van Byword werkt goed, maar is bijna overbodig, omdat bijvoorbeeld *benadrukte* tekst en **sterk benadrukte** tekst al in de edit-modus als cursief en vet verschijnen, met de Markdown-asteriskjes eromheen.
De implementatie van Markdown en MultiMarkdown is erg goed, met alle toeters en bellen: kruisverwijzingen, voetnoten, enzovoort.
Byword is stabiel, snel genoeg (behalve op mijn oude iPad) en een plezier om mee te werken.

Byword is een uitstekende applicatie, nog beter, zelfs, in de 2.x versie, maar het leek me wel zo eerlijk om te vermelden dat ik ben overgestapt op een concurrerend programma, dat ik nog beter vind. Ik laat in het midden welk programma dat is, want het zou onaardig zijn voor de ontwikkelaars van Byword om daar hier reclame voor te maken.
