**Now a universal app - designed for iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch**

The eGuide to Birds of East Africa is an interactive companion to Terry Stevenson and John Fanshawe's Birds of East Africa field guide – the essential guide for birdwatchers visiting this spectacular region. It covers Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. This application has specific features that will enhance your birding experience.

FEATURES:
Hi-res images, distribution maps and detailed text descriptions of over 1300 bird species including breeding species and regular visitors.
These images can be expanded to fill the entire width of the screen in portrait and landscape.
Audible calls for more than 1000 bird species
“Bird Compare” that allows you to compare two birds on the same screen.
A personal bird list that stores your bird sightings saved to the device that can then be exported through email.
View the Bird Index by Common or Scientific bird names either alphabetically or taxonomically.

*Uninstalling the program will result in the loss of your list, it is recommended that you keep your own master list separate from the program.

Good app but useless customer support

Have used this app for 5 years and never has it failed to start. Liked it for what it offered in bird sounds and drawings for East Africa, although will be getting out of date as based on 1st edition of the Stevenson & Fanshaw guide and that has just been published in much updated 2nd addition.

Recently Apple bought out IOS 14.2 and immediately the Birds of East Africa app refused to start on my iPhone XR. Clearly an issue with the software update and not the phone - has never happened before. The Birds of India app also by MyDigitalEarth starts normally on same phone and same software.

All customer support can offer to try to solve problem is to delete and reinstall the app. However, this deletes all records and if not backed-up with an Excel sheet and one doesn’t do that after every birding session. And as the app won’t start cannot retrieve data.

This app was great to use but be warned not to rely on it as a sole log of birds seen. Also realise that even if one exports the bird data regularly there is no way to load it back into the app in case one has to delete and reinstall the app. The only way is a completely manual entering of all data.
