Needs better filtering options

Google did a good job with the design in this app. I really like what they did with Full Coverage and other features for showing the user more complete, unbiased and transparent information, while still being easy to navigate and read. But in the end that really doesn’t matter if the section of the app they pushed the most (the AI-powered “For You” section) won’t do what it’s supposed to: deliver news that are relevant to the user.

Every day since I downloaded the app, without exception, I get articles about Fortnite and the Royal Wedding. I’ve chosen the “show me fewer like this” every time, but it keeps on pushing those subjects. I think the issue is that it’s hard for their AI to figure out what exactly in the article the user doesn’t like. I think there should be a finer control for the subjects you’re into, because apparently their AI doesn’t understand that I don’t care about a given subject even if I choose to see less of it over and over.

I’m still using the app daily and will probably continue to do so, but it really is frustrating that apparently I don’t have any control over what Google decides what I should be reading.

Positief dat diverse nieuwsbronnen worden voorgeschoteld. Dan kun je als nieuwsconsument zelf je conclusies trekken.
Jammer dat er weinig structuur te zien is. Dat soms belangwekkend nieuws naast regelrechte roddel staat.
Waarom geen onderverdeling in categorieën, zoals bij Nu.nl?

Had je hiervoor een helder overzicht, nu maken de bewegende foto’s het bijna onmogelijk om de teksten te lezen.
