Her Story is the critically acclaimed mystery game from Sam Barlow. Playing like an interactive true crime documentary, the game lets you go hands on with a police database full of live action video footage. It stars Viva Seifert, actress and one half of the band Joe Gideon and the Shark.
How does it work?
Her Story sits you in front of a mothballed desktop computer and logs you into a police database. Search through hundreds of video clips that cover seven interviews from 1994 in which a British woman is interviewed about her missing husband. Explore the database by typing search terms, watch the clips where she speaks those words and piece together her story.

Leuk, maar waarom zit het scherm ondersteboven
Op een ipad pro kan je dit spel niet spelen met een aangekoppeld toetsenbord (tenzij je ondersteboven wilt typen...) het scherm draait nl ook niet mee....

Er zijn maar weinig spellen die echt compleet vernieuwd zijn en een spel zoals deze, heb ik nog nooit gezien. Alleen daarom al 5 sterren.
Hoe werkt het:
Er zijn 350 clips, variërend van 2-150 seconden. In deze clips worden verschillende 'verhoringen' laten zien, waarin de verdachte getuigenverklaringen doet. Het is aan jou om te begrijpen hoe het verhaal in elkaar steekt, en wie schuldig is. Op een gegeven moment kun je aangeven of je weet hoe het zit. Als je 'ja' zegt, dan is het spel afgelopen, dat kan zonder écht te weten hoe het in elkaar steekt.
Is het perfect? Nee. Het spel is in 2 tot 4 uur wel afgelopen. De moeilijkheidsgraad wordt daarnaast bepaald door key-words die je kiest, daar zit een geluksfactor in. Je moet er tegen kunnen dat je het exacte verhaal niet kunt snappen en dat het antwoord niet gegeven wordt.
Wel is het meeslepend, je speelt het in 1 avond weg, uit pure nieuwsgierigheid.
Ik had er meer van verwacht
Er zit weinig spanning in, je moet de hele tijd met de juiste woorden filmfragmenten zoeken. Eerst leuk maar al snel verveeld en irriteert het. Ik heb het een hele tijd gespeeld en wist wat er gebeurd was, maar een einde? Nee, er is geen duidelijk begin of einde. Weggegooid geld!! 🤑🤑😩
