Approaching perfection

This app, when used on both iOS and macOS, approaches perfection as the thinking person’s writing environment. To be sure, I have a few feature requests (that the developers are aware of), and some of its capabilities are of no use to me, personally, but it’s clean, fast (iCloud sync, too), and has very few flaws. I abandoned Obsidian and access and edit the hundreds of markdown files from my ‘vault’ in iA Writer now, never missing backlinks and ‘transclusion’ and the rest, and writing a lot more. I wrote a script to copy text as LaTeX for my scientific work. I thoroughly enjoy the iA aesthetic, and love the Duo font face. The new library navigation features are a boon. And having bought my first license over ten years ago, I trust this suite will be around for as long as I’ll be writing. Forget bells and whistles; this machine kills procrastination. Thanks, developers!

Love this app - it only misses one thing

I have been using ia Writer for already a few years in my laptop. Now I got the mobile version and works very good. I love the simplicity and the easy sync. There is however a few critical things I really miss, in both apps (mobile and stationary): 1) an outliner to help me navigate through my documents. IA writer has this option for Windows users but for some reason never implemented it for Apple users. 2) a less purist way to visualize tables and formulas. By that I mean that would very helpful to have small renders of tables to work on. Since the app is very strict on using bare text, working with tables is a headache. That’s the few reasons why I end up using IA writer only for short texts, instead of more serious writing drafts.

This update fixes a few small bugs. It includes all the great features in iA Writer 7.3: # AI in Technicolor Whether you proofread with Apple Intelligence, or paste from Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT, the generated text now bursts onto the page with a colorful gradient. It looks as artificial as its origins. Think of it as a game: you got help, now make it your own. We also made it easy to tell different human contributors apart. They appear in subtle tones. And you can choose a preferred color for saved authors in settings. Reference material stays dimmed. Use this to see the changes you made to a downloaded contract, to track the progress since your first draft, or when you’re not sure how a text was created.
