Description

Joplin is an open source note taking and to-do application, which can handle a large number of notes organised into notebooks. The notes are searchable, can be copied, tagged and modified. Images and other files can be attached to notes. The iOS application supports markdown rendering.

The notes can be synchronised with your other devices via Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive or Joplin Cloud. Joplin is also available for Windows, macOS and Linux and all can synchronise with each others so your notes can be available on your mobile phone, computer, tablet, etc. Please see the official website for the list of available applications: https://joplinapp.org

The desktop applications can be used to import notes from Evernote via .enex files, including the formatted content (which is converted to markdown), resources (images, attachments, etc.) and complete metadata (geolocation, updated time, created time, etc.). These imported notes can then be synchronised with the iOS app.

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is supported and will encrypt the complete data, including notes, notebooks and attachments.

A dark keyboard while using dark theme would make it perfect

I’m using the OLED Dark mode, but I have noticed that the keyboard is not dark while taking notes.

I hope this can be fixed.

Other than that, it’s a very good app.

Thanks in advance!

Secure and great app

That I definitely recommend!

The app works smooth and easy. I had to take a subscription to sync my files, which came down to 18€ a year, so great pricing too! (I didn’t like the free options, but there are many, like Dropbox and other not so secure cloud services, but you can also use your own servers.)

It has many features that I won’t or haven’t used, but to have them is always great of course.
It’s open source, so no hidden agendas here, the guy making it seems dedicated and is listening well to the community. I was looking for a secure note taking app for my writing, that I want to sync with all my devices and doesn’t cost to much.

This was the best and only option I could find that fits my needs. It’s non big tech, has encryption, great sync options and no adds. Free to use if you don’t need more then 2 GB, which for normal notes is plenty of space and it won’t hurt your wallet if you do need more space or want to sync your files with the Joplin cloud service.

I really like the app and it features and it has no competition for a security lover and big tech hater like myself!

So give it a try!

Sync issues with Nextcloud

It’s a great setup and I am using it for years on all different platforms but recently it stopped syncing on IOS. Removed the app and reinstalled but no luck. It seems a common issue and is a pity because it used to work. iOS 17.5.1
