No ipad magic keyboard

Great app. Says it focuses on iPad. Even though. The ipad magic keyboard is not supported.

Missing a lot of features for a paid app

Given that this is a paid app, you would expect it to be full featured. Instead, it's almost impossible to import PDF files, turning your phone 90° will not show you the text in landscape mode, selecting text in a PDF does not provide an easy way to highlight or annotate it... I could go on. The app is beautifully designed, the marketing is top-notch, but the product itself, unfortunately, does not live up to expectations. I used Readwise before, then tried Matter, and am now sticking with Omnivore.

Prima app, zonde van de dure “pro” functies.

Matter is een handige en makkelijk te gebruiken applicatie. Gratis te downloaden met optioneel in-app-aankopen voor een abonnement (per maand/jaar/3jaar). De extra opties (die onder zo’n abonnement vallen) zijn gelukkig niet van essentieel belang (dwz, de gratis versie is voorzien van vele functies). Maar de opties (dit zijn er slechts een handvol) die enkel tot je beschikking komen na afsluiten van een peperduur abonnement van een tientje per maand is ronduit belachelijk. Het is de laatste jaren een trend geworden (bij enorm veel software ontwikkelaars) om het verdienmodel aan te passen. Het resultaat is dat helaas veel goede software een abonnement aanbieden en niet (meer) de mogelijkheid om de software in één keer te kopen voor een eenmalig bedrag. Ik begrijp dat een abonnement meer geld oplevert voor alle bedrijven en ontwikkelaars, en ik ben er an sich niet op tegen, maar zo’n beetje de gehele portfolio van alle bekende en benodigde software is vandaag de dag alleen te gebruiken als je een abonnement afsluit. Ik heb meerdere abonnementen op software applicaties, maar op een gegeven moment moet je een keus maken of het wel verstandig en haalbaar is om meer diensten af te nemen. Voor mij is het antwoord een duidelijke nee. Ik zoek liever naar een passend alternatief dat met een eenmalig bedrag te koop is en niet werkt met een doorlopend abonnement. Het is een flink schrijven en ik uit me behoorlijk maar het lijkt mij duidelijk dat abonnementen een halt toegeroepen moeten worden. Let op: dit is geen kritiek naar de ontwikkelaar van deze applicatie maar kritiek op het huidige verdienmodel waar alle bedrijven aan mee participeren. Wat Matter betreft, het is een prima app. Ben je een professional die alles gesynchroniseerd wil hebben en eindeloze functionaliteit, dan is een abonnement de moeite waard. Voor de doorsnee consument is de gratis versie prima te doen.
