Ratings and Reviews
Poorly designed interface
As brilliant as their speakers are, the iOS app is clearly a work in progress. It is functional, most of the time, but has a lot of rough edges.
Changing the Bluetooth name of my devices is possible, but doesn’t always seem to ‘catch’. And the custom name doesn’t seem to propagate to the Bluetooth device list in the iOS Settings, only to the list of Minirigs in the Minirigs app itself. That is a bit of a bummer when you have two Minirigs paired as a stereo pair. Which one do I connect to now? “MINIRIG MINI” or “MINIRIG MINI”? Only one of them will connect, but if you choose the wrong one, it takes a bit of time before the connection request expires and you can select the other one from the list.
Also, even after you selected the custom device name from the list in the Minirig app, it still happens that in the main menu, the device name shows as the default “MINIRIG MINI“.
When modifying the equaliser settings, the “EQ LOCK” button doesn’t always ‘catch’.
In the Settings menu in the app, it took me a while to discover what is meant with the “TONES / Disables or enables all tones”, my first guess was that this might have to do with hooking up a subwoofer and letting that take care of the bass tones. But it’s just switching off or on the user action feedback tones that you hear when switching a device on or off and when it has successfully paired, etc.
Another niggle is that the “DIM LED” setting is not remembered next time you use your device.
But as I said in the beginning, it is by and large usable, with some patience and some understanding that this is not a 1.0 version yet (0.6.5 at the time of writing this review).
And don’t let the state of the app discourage you from buying a Minirig, because they are simply superb!
No 5 band eq. Only 5 presets
Works perfect after firmware updating your minirigs to version 8 with the other updater app.
On my iphone 7 there is no equalizer with sliders only some presets. Waiting for good update. Yes my phone has very latest ios of course
