Too many ads

I used to enjoy games by Digital Things. This one however, I quit playing within 5 five minutes. Although I like the idea of their new idle game, it is full of ads. In the older games, ads were optional (e.g. for a bonus). In this game, you get an ad every other minute.
I understand the developers choice to include ads in the game, it is a free game after all. But this is just too many; I spend more time watching ads than playing the game.
The shop isn’t available until later in the game (I think), so it seems like I can’t even buy the ad free version if I wanted to.
