It’s no Apollo, but at the moment the best app out there for Reddit!!
Great potential. Needs a lot more polish, though.
Lemme start this mini-review with immediately saying that I actually really like Narwhal! The gestures are nice and Avenir is a cool alternative to the default Reddit font. My biggest gripe with the app, however, is that it lacks trophies *entirely.* What?! Surely it would be far from impossible to add awards. Other no-go points are the lack of flairs, hot/relevance menus not working as well as they should (i.e. the same as the stock Reddit app,) as well as sometimes confusing buttons (like why is it not that ergonomic to just add a comment to a post?!) and... It’s not the best. it has insane potential, but that potential NEEDS to be used. Please.
Verdict: Narwhal good in its core, but missing the little things makes it unbearable for me.
Excellent Reddit app
The whole 3rd party Reddit api saga has resulted in a completely rewritten Narwhal app. It is clean, it is fast, and it is a delight to use. The subscription model allows it to use the Reddit api in ways that free clients are no longer able to, so you don’t have to use the awful official Reddit app.
