I like the app a lot
It is fast, feels modern and I love the ability to sync using git. It’s also nice that it uses markdown, meaning I can export to my blog easily. Try it, you wont regret.
Still no file system support
Nowadays iOS allows you (the user) to store app files/folders in a location of choice. You can store files on “this iPhone”, iCloud or locations provided by other apps.
It’s a shame obsidian notes still does not have support for it as you could finally store your vault in say a Cryptomator vault or Dropbox or Google drive or OneDrive if that suits your needs.
I can see why they wouldn’t support it though. It removes the need for their cloud sync future altogether. Personally, I don’t want to get involved with yet another party to store my documents and make up my mind as to whether I trust it enough. I wish I could just pick one location to trust (Cryptomator) and store everything there.
Let the people who build tools like Cryptomator focus on how to sync documents securely and focus on building a good note taking app yourself. I’d be willing to pay for obsidian notes if they allowed me to store documents elsewhere instead of locking me into their cloud sync. But without any way to sync my notes on anything other than iCloud or obsidian sync, this app is useless to me.
