The mini player got bigger controls (your thumbs asked nicely), and the bottom of the podcast grid eases into a blur, so nothing gets lost or hard to read where the grid meets the player. New in this release: - Folders got context menus - A new Siri shortcut to mark the current episode as played - Chapter artwork now on the lock screen, Control Center, and CarPlay A few gremlins we escorted out: - The Share swipe action now dismisses automatically - Fix the Filters search header popping back when few episodes match - Fix incorrect section heading when opening an episode on the Apple Watch - Fix “Download All” on a season not warning before using cellular data - The Playlists tab uses consistent background in dark mode We also waved off iOS 16 and watchOS 9. Transcripts just got a karaoke mode upgrade. New episodes now highlight words as they’re spoken, making it easier to follow along, search, tap, and jump straight to the good bits. No singing required. Stats got a glow-up: a new listening activity heatmap lets you see exactly when you’ve been tuning in. Discover and Search now show explicit content badges, so you always know what you’re getting into before you hit play. Menus across the app have been updated to use sheet presentation for a smoother, more consistent feel. Adding episodes to Up Next is snappier than ever: animations are fixed and you’ll now get visual feedback even when the tab bar is collapsed.

Pour yourself something refreshing – 8.13 is serving Liquid Glass. The big one: Pocket Casts now supports Liquid Glass, so the app shimmers, refracts, and generally looks like it spent the whole spring at the spa. Everything feels lighter, glassier, and a little more magical. The mini player now animates when skipping back or forward. The search bar now collapses more gracefully, and pull-to-refresh is reliable and polished across the board. Smart Playlist rules are faster to edit, and we’ve fixed episodes shuffling around mid-swipe. CarPlay users: your progress bar is back on track.

We fixed smart rules spacing, smoothed out a few rough edges in playlists, and updated the “Now Playing” screen to show the podcast title instead of the author.

We fixed that odd sound your Apple Watch made when hitting play. Now it's all signal, no noise. We've improved how we detect when transcripts are available, so you'll know for sure whether it's ready.

Ever had an episode not play and wondered what was going on? We have tried to make that a lot clearer. Whether it’s your connection or the episode has been removed, you will now get a better explanation so you’re not left guessing. We’ve also fixed some issues with larger text sizes where things didn’t quite look right. Things should look and behave properly now. And we’ve improved the download manager to avoid a race condition. Unfortunately, no F1 cars were involved.

Now when your favourite podcast episode is buffering on the full screen player, you’ll see a progress indicator so you know what’s happening. We’ve also been investigating storage issues. This update makes sure temporary download files are properly cleaned up so they don’t take up extra space. Thanks for sticking with Pocket Casts over the years. We still love building it and can’t wait to keep making it better.

Want to add an episode to a playlist? You can now do it right from the episode details, no extra taps needed. Podcast search now plays nicely with all locales and regions. Now Playing info properly updates when you connect a Bluetooth device. Episode artwork shows the right image, even when the audio file and feed disagree. No more surprise logouts during background refreshes on a locked device.

Bulk delete, actually bulk deletes now. Selecting multiple episode files for removal works the way it should — all selected, all gone, no exceptions. Shared some your favorites podcasts links? We squashed a bug that was tripping up URL handling, so tapping a link in your messages takes you right where you need to go.

We’ve smoothed things out to make listening feel more effortless! Show Notes now remember where you left off, AirPlay gives you better multi-speaker control, shared Clips play back seamlessly, Up Next syncs more smoothly between Apple Watch and iPhone, and the app won’t surprise you by autoplaying – plus, the Radioactive theme has officially retired. Removing Radioactive lets us simplify the app and focus on features you actually use.

We’re warming up your listening game this winter. Long-press to quickly deselect episodes when you’ve tapped one too many. Adding episodes to playlists is faster than ever. Playing via home screen widgets and reordering episodes in Up Next both work more reliably. Episodes will no longer cut out early—they’ll play all the way to the frosty end.

To help sustain that mission, this release re-introduces banner ads to support our ongoing work. Banner ads won’t be shown to Plus or Patron subscribers or users who created a Pocket Casts account prior to September 2019 – thank you for your support. This update also brings a smoother start for new users with improved account creation during onboarding with User Stories, Interests, and Recommendations. We’ve fixed an issue where the You Might Like tab would reload when returning to it. Navigation should now feel smoother and more consistent. The About screen now displays the correct background color across all themes.
