Description
This is the best app to track your climbing and boulder sessions automatically. Redpoint gives you detailed overview and feedback on your ascents.
Use your Apple Watch or iPhone as a fitness tracker for bouldering and climbing. Contribute your climbing session to closing your daily rings! Workouts are stored in HealthKit and therefore visible in the Health app and Workouts app as well.
After each session you will see detailed information about your climbs: the overall height, your heart rate, duration, maximum ascent height, ascending speed, difficulty of routes, and most importantly: Redpoint will give you personalized training suggestions based on that data. How to go from V4 to V5? Or from 5.11b to 5.11c? Redpoint creates a training plan just for you to achieve your next climbing goals.
So, how does that work?
Thanks to highly advanced machine learning we are able to classify climbing movements right on Apple Watch. In addition to that we use the built-in barometer to measure the ascended altitude. You can track the difficulty of ascended routes right from the Apple Watch.
Works For:
- Bouldering
- Top Rope
- Sport Climbing
- Trad Climbing
- Multi Rope (Alpine)
- Free Solo
- Aid Climbing
- Via Ferrata

What’s New
Version 3.7.3
This update adds a workaround for altitude tracking if you have iOS 17.4 or watchOS 10.4 or newer installed:
Unfortunately, Apple introduced a bug with the latest updates which prevents barometric data from being delivered to the device.
Instead of waiting for them to fix this, we have introduced a workaround:
You now have to grant permission to Motion & Fitness data when you start a new workout.
This is only necessary once, and afterwards you should be able to use Redpoint as usual.
I am very sorry for this unexpected behavior!
On top of that, this update fixes an issue where logging into a TheCrag account could lead to a crash when opening settings.
Ratings and Reviews
A great app, live it
I use this app for a few months now and I love to see how my body was working on the difficult routes and how I can manage it to Strava etc.
Just found a few bugs and the owner immediately reacted and started to fix it, chapeau!! Great service!
Most of the time I fill in my results afterwards but it works also perfectly on my watch. Of course it will register a stairs as a route sometimes, but for me that’s no problem.
Keep up the good work!
(Almost) really great app to track bouldering sessions
This app is overall really great to track your bouldering sessions. Nicely designed, shows a lot of metrics and shows handy training tips.
The only thing that would make it 5 stars is to receive some stability updates. The app crashed a few times during a sessions when I wanted to pause or resume. Or when I edited workouts after I was done bouldering.
I also noticed that the last update was released more than a year ago, and I would like to know if Redpoint is still being developed for. Especially when you need to have a subscription to use all functionalities.
Used to work fine, now keeps crashing
I used this app for over a year now and it was very good at the beginning, but lately the watch app keeps crashing halfway through my session. I can no longer get the session back on my watch, but when I check the phone app later the session is often still ‘ongoing’. This morning same thing, last time I checked my watch before it crashed it showed about 48m climbed, and just now I saw an ongoing session in the phone app claiming I’d only done 19m. It’s a shame the app no longer seems to be reliable!
