StarTone is a music player which can play songs in your "Music" library and audio files stored in your device, including common format like mp3 and lossless format of Flac, also it support MIDI playback and support customize sound bank.

StarTone was came out for rating music with stars and "love" statues. The rating bar stands out in the main page, so it just need one touch to make the rating, no need to open many submenus. In addition, StarTone provides Today Extension and Watch app, so you can also make music ratings on the Widget Screen and your Apple Watch.

StarTone now also equips some handy features to make the music listening easy and happy. Please try to play with them.

Nice

Nice music player, I prefer its layout over Cs Music Player. Also nice features, easy to use.

What’s missing is an ‘screen stays on’ option, so I can keep rating music without having to unlock my iPhone.

I noticed that on my Apple Watch the song that’s playing is not automatically updated. Don’t know if this a limitation of the watch itself or from the app.

Thank you for your nice review and enlightening suggestion. I will try to implement the “stay on screen” option.

Works well, but not the heart function

I usually add ratings in the welcome screen of my iphone 7+. The star ratings given in startone are also added to the music in my apple music app and in itunes after synchronisation. This however does not work for the heart, given in startone. It is not added to the apple music app. When adding a heart in the welcome screen it is also not retained when opening the track in the full startone app. And also vice versa from full to welcome it does not function.

Can this be improved in the next update? Otherwise I wasted my money. After improvements I will update my review and rating.

Added after developper’s reaction:
When I ❤️ a song in the welcome screen it is not displayed in the full app. In other words the hearts given in the welcome screen are not kept anywhere. Just verified it. The other way around it does work though.

Hi! There is no public function interface for heart rating on iOS so far. What StarTone does is save the heart rating inside StarTone and try to upload to your iCloud storage. So it should reflect in StarTone host app, otherwise it’s indeed a bug. And yes, the heart ratings can’t send to the Music app directly, hence Music app doesn’t has the heart ratings synchronize to iTunes. On the other hand, if the heart ratings had success fully upload to your iCloud, you just need the macOS counterpart - StarTune - to synchronize the rating automatically. The key point is the same iCloud account is activated on both devices.
This is a compromised work around. But it also gives the benefit that you can “wirelessly” synchronize ratings across your devices.
If Apple dispose the heart rating interface in the future, I promise it will be add to StarTone.

There was a bug and is fixed in 1.6.4. Please update the app and try again. Please note that the heart rating synchronization still needs iCloud. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your test and report.
