Best messaging app
Best messaging app there is. I tried different messaging apps (Line, WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook Messenger) and Telegram has the most functionalities which are also useful.
It works on different devices at the same time, so sending messages from your PC is faster than on your phone and you can share easily data between your PC and phone. This means that it doesn’t depend on an active internet connection from your phone and your data isn’t used for ads (the only data stored is what Telegram needs to function as a secure and feature-rich messaging service).
Only a username is required, but you can also add your phone number if you want and people can add you by your username if you don’t want them to know your phone number.
It is also great that you can send uncompressed video’s/pictures and huge files up to 1,5GB.
One of the best features is being able to edit your messages easily and being able to delete a message without showing it has been deleted.
There is also a personal cloud, which can be used to send messages or files for you to check later. The best thing is that you can send yourself a reminder on a specific date and time. It’s also possible to send messages to people on a specific time and date (like a reminder if someone needs to do something, but tends to forget that).
You can make your own stickers and those stickers are attached to emoticons (which are set by the creator of those sticker). GIFs are easy to find and use (saves the 100 most recent used GIFs).
I still don’t understand why people keep being clingy on Whatsapp (except the reason of: people I know use Whatsapp)... Especially after those leaks and other security issues (aside it being owned by Facebook).
- Whatsapp, like I described above, you can’t send uncompressed pictures/video’s, not being able to use it on different devices and can’t edit send messages. The delete option is horrible, since people can see that you deleted a message.
- Facebook Messenger is worse in terms of functionality than Whatsapp and didn’t use encryption for a long time.
- Line is basically used in Japan, but they earn money by selling stickers to the users. It’s private (in comparison with Whatsapp), but has less nice functionalities compared to Telegram.
- WeChat.... it’s Chinese so there won’t be any privacy at all.
Hopefully more people will use Telegram, since it’s much better and secure than Whatsapp (considering this is the most used messaging app in my country).
@Developers: A nice improvement would be to send uncompressed pictures as an album as well, so it doesn’t take a lot of space.
