Beschrijving

The First Tree is a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his estranged father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death. Along the way, players can uncover artifacts and stories from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.

Features:
• Not a "fox simulator," but an emotional, intimate story by a one-man team with an ending you won't soon forget.

• Featuring a gorgeous, orchestral soundtrack by acclaimed artists like Message to Bears, Lowercase Noises, and Josh Kramer.

• A short story-driven game (about 2 hours long) with some light puzzle solving, platforming, and no enemies.

Very good game

I first saw this game through a random article on the app store. Although I had never seen it before, the game immediately caught my attention. I saw that reviews for the game online were generally positive, so I bought and downloaded the game and, wow! If you have around 1-2 hours of time, and a bit of money, this game is absolutely worth it.

The gameplay may be a bit simplistic, but the world around you is certainly not. It’s amazing how big and beautiful the different levels are, especially when considering that this game was programmed by what is essentially a one-man team. The calm world around you also helps to build atmosphere and create a mood, something this game excels at, in no small part due to the music and the story itself. The soundtrack is simply amazing, not much more to say about it. The story is a bit more complex.

The entirety of the story is told through dialogue. This dialogue occurs in the background, as the world you’re exploring is a dream. The main character (Joseph) is simply explaining his dream to his wife (Rachel). Throughout the journey, the fox digs up specific items, which is what triggers the next part of the dialogue. This is a very unique way of telling the story. The story itself is very touching, and the ending is absolutely beautiful.

Overall, while the general gameplay of the game might be simplistic, it tells a very strong story and features an absolutely beautiful open world to explore. I sadly do not have time to write much more, but please get the game. You won’t regret it.
