One of the best games of last decade

I’ve played through this game on xbox, pc and phone, and it is great everywhere. On phone it has the benefit for being turn based, making it perfect for the on-the-go.

Disappointment - steer clear of this mediocre port

I have been an Xcom fan since the very beginning, actually in the last century 😃Since then I’ve played most versions of this great concept, created by the great Sid Meier. The reboot for the PC created in 2012 was spot-on. It did justice to the original, even wit added content and mechanisms.Obviously I wanted to give this version a go too.In short my findings of the IOS version:- Controls are awful. Selecting your team member, trying to position him on the field should be a doddle, especially on an iPad. It is very cumbersome, wanting me to return to the pc-version- graphics are just enhanced images from the 2012 version. Looks like a Ford with a Ferrari paintjob. Just not okay- I see many artifacts on the map and characters throughout the game. Don’t know what’s wrong, ut it IS annoying- camera controls are clunky to say the least. When trying to use the controls sending your team-member to a position under a roof or in a building, you can’t seem to have a proper look under the obstacle, without “cheating the camera controls”. Very clumsy implementation- the game, the engine, does not provide a fluent change of camera/“game motion”. I’ve a recent iPad with high specs. It seems to me the port was not made properly, not using the full potential of device- last but, for me, not least: lack of controls. You can’t seem to change graphics detail if you want to, you can only turn sound on or off ( for instance, you would like to mix music, speech and sound effects instead of just turning on and of).Most important control missing for me: you can’t turn off cinematics during the game, effectively ruining my momentum during gameplay.Concluding: I am still a fan of the franchise, not a fan of this version. Advice: steer clear, play the PC-version instead.
