Good app to improve

I feel like you really improve your photographing skills with this app. Find inspiration with the contests, and then go take the perfect shot - or look through your camera roll if you previously captured something that fits the theme.

But! I subtracted one star because I feel like I miss a search function.. To find a contest that I want to join without scrolling through it randomly. Please, add a search function in the future and I might just add that missing star back.. :)

Unfair app that forces you to pay

After trying this for a few days, I quickly realized that the app tries its best to make you buy more features and advantages. Buying these gives you extra “boost” that quickly increases your points. You get an initial amount free and then forced to buy more if you want to win any of the challenges at all.

This “game” is not fair at all and is only made to suck the money out your pocket. Stay away from it.

Hi, dm_a! Thank you for the feedback. GuruShots is a free platform with optional paid features. Winning a challenge depends on others to vote for your photos and is unrelated to how much a user spendscopy on purchasing tools. Resources can also be earned without paying. Great App, but would love to see a Pad version

I love GuruShots competitions and team challenges.
Having such a vast amount of daily and weekly challenges, really helps you with becoming a better photographer overall.
I started out using GuruShots maybe 4 or 5 years ago.
And in that time I haven’t really needed to buy any “boost” packs.
Looking through the work of others when voting, is both inspiring and rewarding, as it helps me understand what a good photo is, and what is not. Some photos "speaks" to you, and those photos and photographers are worth their weight in gold when it comes to inspiration, technique and compositions .

I have been Photographing for about 18 years now, and it’s quite easy to become fixated with only one category of photography. For me that is landscape photography. But by challenging my self in other unfamiliar subjects i have learned to train my eye, settings, and postproduction in subjects that I normally would not shoot. And that has been really refreshing !

The app is overall good, but with some minor issues now and then.
My biggest gripe, is probably that it doesn’t have a dedicated iPad interface. Meaning, that when used on an iPad, the app retains its iPhone screen size, and “crops” into the iPad screen with large black borders around it. So I hope they can create something similar to the web interface, but inside the app for iPads.
