Struggling on IPhone X
Hans Erik Syversen
Choosing "head up" makes the map lag all the time, so I cannot navigate at all. A must fix or uninstall. Otherwise app seems good.

Dear Customer, this occurs on iOS devices when "Chart Rotation" is selected. Please, see the other options to view your current GPS location here: https://tinyurl.com/kdrfbcfm Currently, the option to rotate the names is not available. We value customers’ input and your suggestion has already been forwarded to our developers for review and consideration of future App enhancements. At this time, we cannot guarantee a precise date when an update will be available. Information regarding updates to existing Navionics products and new product releases can be found on our website or by following us on Facebook or Twitter. Have a great day!
Manual waypoint editing functionality diminished
Fedup sailor
Previous functionality for editing manually plotted routes seems to be gone in this so-called upgrade. Previously you could press a waypoint to get an opportunity to delete it when editing a manual route. Also, you could just press the line between two waypoints to put in a new intermediate waypoint in between the two previously routed. The usual routine when plotting a new route would be to put just a few waypoints first for a crude route with mostly straight lines and then add more waypoints as needed to fine tune the final route before syncing with my Raymarine MDF. With this app, the only possibility you seem to get when editing a route is to remove the last waypoint. This makes plotting a manual route very cumbersome! I started out with Navionics at the very early stage where you bought the map once and for all (like a paper chart). It was both cheaper and better than paper charts in my opinion. Then they changed the concept to yearly subscriptions (with an app upgrade where you lost your previously bought map) along with a huge success commercially coinciding with a tremendous growth in users willing to pay. Ok, the product was still good, developing and the maps where upgraded, so I decided to support the project and would pay my yearly fee. Now, with the recent upgrades you risk being tricked into paying for the same product twice (if you install HD version on your IPAD and the regular version on your phone). With the amount of sonar data sea bed mapping that now is being gathered by end users and uploaded to Navionics for free, Navionics should probably go for a discount instead of a price rise... In addition the functionality seems to be diminishing instead of improving. Getting people to pay more for a worse quality product seems to be a short term genius from a greedy point of view. However, I don’t think that strategy will be very stainable. There are many free alternatives to electronic marine charts... Functionality within the app better be This issue regarding manual routing needs a fix before I am willing to pay another yearly fee.

Dear Customer, we would like to inform you that the new Boating App for Apple devices has the same features and maps' details of the former Apps and it will receive all App updates from now on. Regarding the issue about manual routing, we would like to have the opportunity to better understand. Please, contact us from within the Boating App – Menu – Submit Feedback or send us an email at help@navionics.com referencing case #00475363 and attach some screenshots from your App and/or some photos of your Raymarine plotter screen so that we can better investigate on what you are reporting. Based on customers’ feedback, we've consolidated our former Apps into the single title Boating Marine&Lakes in which you can transfer your previous purchases at no additional costs. The benefits of the single title are: • Includes an additional source of local information shared by boaters: the Garmin ActiveCaptain Community; • Will run on both iPhone and iPad with an optimized interface with the same subscription. Users will be able to sync charts and data among their mobile devices (Menu > Me > Subscription > Restore Purchases). The new design eliminates the requisite for purchasing different app versions (standard for iPhone, versus HD for iPad). The new App, as well as the previous Apps, is a one-time purchase which comes with a one year of subscription for each one of your coverage areas. The subscription may be renewed each year thereafter, but this is not a requirement. If you experience a cost increase, we apologize for this inconvenience, however we are confident you will continue to appreciate all value and benefits offered by our new simplified App.
Bug fixing and optimization.
