Messaging Improvements

A Step in the Right Direction
I've always wanted an official mobile app for Second Life, and now it's finally here. I love the UI—it's minimalistic and easy to navigate. The movement is a bit clunky, but it gets the job done. The graphics are decent, but there's room for improvement, particularly when it comes to displaying non-standard avatars. I'm excited to see how this app evolves and how closely it will eventually mirror the PC experience.

Quite frankly, it’s a mess as of currently. I don’t mean the fact that it’s a beta. I fully expected the 3-D to be flaky (which it is). The UI is also a mess.
But most importantly, this really misses the mark for me with how you are locked into 3-D view, that doesn’t even look good, and runs your device super hot.
Where the old classic Lumiya knew its user base, this instead feels like it primarily focuses on being a very mediocre 3-D experience.
I don’t actually expect 3-D to look good either, but if I just want to login to hang around with friends and listen to music and chat (which is what I would be using this for 99% of the time), then everything that I mentioned above combines into making this a horrible experience for that.
It really needs a text only mode, with a UX that is actually designed for chatting, and being able to turn off 3-D (which is basically only useful for navigating anyway, and a gargantuan battery drain).
Of course this is a beta, so who knows what will happen?
It’s cool that they’re working on the mobile app but personally I feel like it’s missing the mark on some key functionality that they could just look at Lumiya design to know what users actually want.
