Unfinished and therefor almost useless

I have been looking for a well functioning tool like Speechify for a long time, and have been continually disappointed by the quality of such read-aloud services. Given the many great reviews for Speechify, I had some hopes that Speechify had managed to create a really good product, but I was very disappointed. I met four hick-ups quickly after I started using it. 1. I scanned a book chapter with the in-app scanning tool. The scan mixed up too many words and lines, leaving sentences meaningless and requiring me to double check what the book actually said. If the scan cannot be trusted, it is almost useless. 2. I therefor tried to use Adobe Scan on the same book, and then importing that pdf to Speechify. The scan from adobe had fewer mistakes, but when I imported the pdf to Speechify, Speechify interpreted every new line as a new paragraph. So when I listened to the text it read as if every new line was a full stop, making it terrible to listen to. 3. Why is there not an option to not include/read out page 28 numbers? (The number 28 here is an image of how it looks when documents are scanned 29 and read in Speechify). It cannot be hard to code given the current level of photo recognition technology. The same goes for footnotes. The scanning tool must be able to identify that a footnote has a smaller font and positioning that other text, and therefor should/could be left out. 4. My last hope to have some use of Speechify was to install the Safari add-in so that I could listen to articles. On the first article I tried, which was an op-ed on the web page EU Law Live, speechify only read out the keywords introducing the text, and then stopped. It didn’t read the title or the text of the article.

So, all in all, I was very dissatisfied. I really want a well functioning tool like speechify, and am willing to pay quite a lot for it, but this app just isn’t finished yet. More time should have been spent in the development phase before it was launched.
