Summer is the dating app for people who actually want to go on dates. Instead of chatting endlessly and never meeting up, on Summer you only have 25 messages per match to make a move or move on.

Limited messages
When you get a new match on Summer, the two of you have 25 messages total to see if you hit it off! Remember…conversations on dating apps shouldn’t last forever, so plan a date before it’s too late.

Locked Chats
Once you’re out of messages with a match, the chat will lock. We are serious when we say we want you to actually meet in-person. Summer is for dating, not pen pals!

Explore page
Instead of forcing you to say yes or no to every profile, Summer shows you a bunch of profiles all at once so you can pick who catches your eye.

Nearby
The people on your Summer explore page are nearby and recently active. No more worrying about matching with profiles that don’t actively use the app.

Shamelessly bad monetization practises

This app takes it a step further than Wink. In addition to restricted daily swiping resources, time limits on accepting friend requests and holding standard messenger app features behind a paywall through an overprized subscribtion fee, the company has this time around put the ability to know when your message is seen behind a paywall as well and restricted the daily total amount of profiles you can view by introducing the limited selection feed called the grid.

The user experience for someone without the subscribtion is worse than your basic built- in smartphone messenger, because the quality of like features you know are locked behind a paywall.

The exhange rate for the «premium features» is just not competetive with apps of the likes of Hoop and Yubo, because you will still be restricted to a limited feed even with the subscribtion and there is no guarantee you will find what you are looking for when you are forced to explore the userbase at slower, time- gated pace.

One tip for you, if you intend to use this app, is that you can filter one specific age at a time to force in more profiles to view, if this wasn’t intended it might be patched, but if so, all the more reason to really think about what is worth your money and what is not.

By nature, the swiping model of Summer seems to be better suited for someone looking for a quantity of «good enough» matches instead of quality matches from a bigger pool of profiles. If you are a fan of the latter, there might be better apps for you. For anyone using this, know that your first profile picture matters more than even because you will be next to countless others.
