Power Hover: Cruise

Futuristic Hoverboard Racer!

View

There’s a deft smoothness to the forward motion of this hoverboard game that makes for an exhilarating experience.

Unless you’ve upgraded to a better rider, lasers are always fatal. Steer clear!

In Power Hover: Cruise, a simple left or right nudge sends your robot (or one of the other unlockable characters) drifting into a swoop, like an elegant surfer. You’ll need perfect timing though, to glide past the obstacles that litter each of the courses.

A spin-off from 2015’s Power Hover, there’s no story mode this time, just chilled-out beats and the need to zoom forward as far as you can without crashing. It’s a high-score chaser with bonus vehicles to unlock, collectables to run over, and an eccentric vibe that’s almost hypnotic.

Whooshing through the surreal landscapes is a concentrated mix of reflexes and precision.

A shifting perspective puts you right in the action.

All seven levels are available to you from the start and each has its own atmosphere, whether it’s Air, with its 3D road winding through the clouds; Dive, where the underwater tunnel stretches into the distance in front of you; or Halfpipe, where you're avoiding obstacles in a curved trench. It’s easy to make progress at first, and you’ll soon feel like the coolest sci-fi racer in the universe as you settle into the rhythm of each level.

Go over that beam or under – just don’t smack into it.

But take care: it’s very hard to master, and you'll need a lot of luck. The rocks, lasers and rotating blades that threaten to unseat you are randomly placed in each session, so there's a heap of replayability to this challenge.
