Total War: THREE KINGDOMS

An era of legendary conquest

View

The Han dynasty’s centuries-long rule is over, and China has collapsed into warlord-ruled fiefdoms. Tens of thousands are dead or dying. Can you restore order and reunite the country?

Total War: Three Kingdoms transports you to China during the fabled rise of the Three Kingdoms. Master the arts of war and statesmanship as you lead one of 12 different factions, each run by a warlord with unique skills, in both real-time combat and turn-based strategy.

Battle play puts you right on the battlefield. Command soldiers and mounted units from above, zooming in to get a better look at close combat, such as generals engaged in hand-to-hand duels.

Deploy your troops wisely: saber-wielding infantry can handle foes on the ground but are vulnerable to skilled cavalry. And eagle-eyed archers can rain waves of razor-sharp arrows from afar. As you gain battlefield experience, you’ll unlock new units with specialised skills. Recruit units best suited to your generals’ talents to get valuable bonuses.

But it’s not all about the fight: in campaign play, which focuses on longer-term strategy, you’ll construct cities as you develop technology and implement reforms that improve your people’s way of life. Negotiate favourable trade deals, forge diplomatic alliances and nudge your enemies – and allies – to fight each other. Just don’t push too hard – betrayal may befall you when the winds of fortune shift.

Your decisions here can make or break your empire: success increases your credibility – which you use in future negotiations.

With 12 warlords to choose from, each game is an entirely new experience. And two game modes offer even more variety: Records of the Three Kingdoms aims for historically accurate warfare, while Romance of the Three Kingdoms mode draws from Chinese folklore, giving you generals and heroes capable of superhuman feats.

Whichever adventure you choose, your warlords, heroes and troops have a singular goal: to form a new, enduring dynasty.
