Important Notes About Apple Tools
- Translation: Using phrases and short sentences in the vocabulary is often best; Apple’s built-in translation depends on the context, and a phrase or sentence provides more context than a word. In addition, the translator doesn’t always offer regional variations. For example, Spanish translations default to Spain’s vocabulary, but the speech synthesizers offer regional accents (like Mexican Spanish).
- Speech: While the default voices may sound robotic, Apple offers FREE Enhanced and Premium voices for download. LingoPop provides easy instructions to upgrade your listening experience.
Make It Your Own
The pre-installed vocabulary is a starting point based on what I thought might be useful for people starting out. But LingoPop makes it easy to edit and create word groups that match your level and preferences. Plus, you can share your custom vocab sets with friends by copying and pasting text.
