Description
TaskSpeech + SmartWindow (TS+SW) is a speech-capture app to experiment with turn-taking and related low-level behaviors using automatic speech recognition (ASR).
TS+SW helps voice user interface designers (VUIDs) understand timing principles of spoken language. Unlike most popular apps today -- which tend to be user-launched, natural-language designs -- these timing principles become important for more interactive prompt-response apps that rely on multiple back-and-forth turns. The TS+SW turn-taking algorithms focus on half-duplex platforms (the most common today).
