Description

elarm is your early warning health and wellbeing app - designed to detect the viral load of Coronavirus using wearables.

elarm requires a wearable device and works best with Apple Watch or Fitbit.

elarm also works with Google Fit and Apple Health compatible wearables including Garmin, Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, Mi Band, Withings, Amazfit, Polar, Fossil, Oura ring and other wearables and fitness trackers.

elarm is a ground-breaking app that detects signs of sickness before you know that you’re sick; for example, from a viral infection like COVID-19/Coronavirus, so you can take earlier action to protect yourself and the people around you. Just connect it to your wearable fitness tracker or smartwatch.

Key features:
- elarm calculates your personalized wellness risk score every 4 hours based on variations from your baseline, using the latest data from your wearable device
- elarm lets you know as soon as your level of wellness changes via notifications
- If your health signs change, elarm gives you relevant guidelines on seeking appropriate medical advice

These variations can be small and begin changing several days before you feel any symptoms, giving you extra time to take appropriate action.

Your device is used to track and identify variations from your baseline levels. Changes in heart rate may be a sign of changes in your general state of health and wellness, for example, and can be related to:
• COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) including Delta, Omicron, BA.1, BA.2 and XE
• Flu (Influenza)
• Viral and bacterial infections
• Stress and Anxiety
• Excessive caffeine, alcohol, nicotine or other stimulants
• Lack of sleep, dehydration, low blood sugar

elarm is simple to use:
Connect - with a simple connection, elarm automatically scans the data from your wearable device, such as your fitness tracker or smartwatch. elarm develops your baseline measures using AI algorithms based on dozens of natural (e.g. heart rate variability, SpO2, respiratory rates, exercise, and other where available) and derived variables (e.g. exercise recovery)
Watch - elarm monitors your health data whenever you’re wearing your device and displays your current wellness level - Normal, Slightly Elevated, Moderately Elevated, or Highly Elevated - based on an evaluation of specific indicators using elarm’s proprietary algorithms
Act - elarm’s dashboard gives you access to contextual medical resources and guidelines based on your current wellness status.

elarm uses and integrates to your Apple Health & Health App data including: heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, steps, sleep and SpO2 (blood oxygen).

Great app

Great app, it really does tell you when something is not quite right. A couple of times I have been feeling unwell, have checked the app and sure enough the levels are spiking. A couple of possible improvements.
1. It would be great if the paid version offered more frequent updates. Ie would give me a reading every 30 mins instead of every 4 hours.
2. It would be great to get some more information about why a score was high. Eg I just got a score of 24, what does that actually mean? How could I explain it to a doctor if I wasn’t feeling well?

Thanks for using elarm, and thanks for the feedback. We have included your suggestions into the product roadmap to make elarm better. Stay safe.

Trust your instincts, not this app

I had high hopes for this app. Knowing that Covid is circulating in the community I expected to catch it eventually, which I did recently. This app didn’t give me any warning at all - it claimed I was perfectly healthy throughout the pre-sickness and even as I stayed at home sick for days - I was always perfectly healthy. I even trialled the paid version to see if the advanced algorithm would be more accurate - it made no difference.
Perhaps this app is designed just for the unvaccinated who will likely have much worse symptoms. If so, the developers should make that clear before you download it.
Ultimately, because I put my trust in this app I believed I wasn’t getting sick, even though I was feeling incredibly tired for days leading up to my diagnosis.
It’s better to trust your own instincts instead of an algorithm which clearly doesn’t work.

Hi dwknight - we have taken your comments about how we position ourselves on board. It is true that there is a range of biometric variation for people, depending on their vaccination status and symptoms. Not all bodies respond in the same way in the viral load phase. Elarm… an interesting and useful app

I installed elarm after hearing about it on RNZ. It’s a non-intrusive way to keep an eye on one’s temperature and vital signs. I like it that it sends out automated reports. It has tracked a few instances when my temperature has been slightly elevated, which I wouldn’t have known about, otherwise.

If you’re a person who likes to track what your own body is telling you, then I think you’ll like this, even if the COVID tracking side of things is it’s main purpose. Obviously, it would be *extremely* useful if you had contact with someone who had COVID-19. I use an iPhone.
