Description

The Bagpipe Tuner App allows precision tuning of Highland bagpipes. Simply sound a note and start tuning. It's easy and accurate.

Bagpipe Tuner App for Highland Bagpipes accurately detects your pipe chanter notes, drones and displays the note, frequency and pitch position. Detection is via the inbuilt microphone, or in noisy environments an external microphone like the HBT clip mic can be attached.

Bagpipe Tuner features both digital and analog style meters, waveform input monitor and auto gain limiter. Simply press the Learn button and start tuning, or turn horizontal to access a larger meter display.

Using a Bagpipe Tuner can really make tuning less stressful, listening more pleasant and playing more enjoyable. You can quickly check your pipes at anytime to maintain good tone– before a gig, practising or competition. And, non-pipers can easily use it to help out with tuning.

Why a Bagpipe Tuner? Highland bagpipes are incredibly hard to tune and unlike standard chromatic instruments, the intervals between each note continue to vary. Bagpipe Tuner correctly displays the scale and takes the guesswork out of using a chromatic tuner.

Bagpipe Tuner compliments the standalone BLAIR tuners and Bluetooth clip.

Essential Tool for All Pipers

This is the first truly useful app for accurately tuning bagpipes.

It is both beautifully designed and performs multiple functions. A pitch reading can be taken from Low A and then locked in and used to tune drones. This was tested in a noisy band environment and the application performed flawlessly allowing accurate drone tuning. The damping seems just right and the iPhone microphone was not overwhelmed. The meter correctly differentiated between and identified tenor and bass drones.

The pitch reading was tested against our usual analog device and it produced identical results - so the app isn't just for pipers. The mid-section can also use the app to set their base pitch without any further reference to the pipers.

The meter is calibrated for the bagpipe scale and can be used to tune individual notes with sharp or flat notes shown as deviations from the desired frequency.

We've had analog meters fail at the most inopportune times and this app provides essential insurance against this occurrence - as well as being an indispensable tool itself.

I can't recommend Murray's app highly enough!
