Matchmaking app Bumble flips traditional social norms. Here, women make the first move. Some 50 million people have used it to not only find a date but also make friends and conduct business. If you don’t start chatting within 24 hours, the match disappears—encouraging you to actually talk to people.
Nicely designed
Pros- I like the key information that it displays on people where you can put prompts, and information about yourself like if you smoke, want kids etc.
cons/suggestions
-One thing I do wish they would do is enforce having a photo of your face. And/ or maybe make everyone get verified after a week of having the app, to prevent cat fishing.
-Less matches than other sites. For some reason I would match with about 80% of people on tinder but it’s a lot less on here
-Women messages first, eh not sure how I feel about this. As a woman myself, I will generally message first anyway, but I sometimes will forget to message people, and then the timer expires. I think men should be allowed to message if they want to
Another scamming dating App
I’m not sure if bumble is struggling financially because of the current global situation but they have taken (like a few other dating apps) to misleading their customers in order to make a buck.
I have had a profile set up for a while. I have set my parameters to find a match to being within a few kms of my City. This cuts out a lot of over seas and distant match’s, that imo, are generally a waste of time. Recently they added the ‘boost’ whereas if you pay a premium, you get to match with your secret admirers. Within a couple of days I had a dozen or so matches so I paid for the feature. I checked out my now uncovered list of secret admirers and was shocked to see that not one of them was in my City!! They were scattered across the country and I believe a couple of them were not even in my country! I immediately contacted support (within 5 mins) asking for a refund on the basis that they had been disingenuous and had tricked me into paying for the subscription which is against consumer law in my country. They declined to refund me because I had agreed to the terms and conditions. Luckily, Apple agree to abide by consumer laws of my Country and have refunded me.
Bumble have been disingenuous and unscrupulous in their transaction with me and I would strongly recommend that people use one of the many dating apps that conduct business ethically. I gave them 1 star as I could not give them 0!
