Awesome awesome awesome!

I really recommend this app to anyone who would like to learn how to play chess or get better at chess. The lessons are incredible! They really helped me improve! The only thing is that I have to upgrade to the diamond💎 premium👑 otherwise I will have limited lessons. I mean why don’t you do it all in one membership? Instead of having 3 different ones. Apart from that this app is the absolute best!🤗

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review. We're glad you're enjoying planning on the app! We're also looking into alternative possibilities for membership plans, and we appreciate your feedback on that. :)

Great app bad system

I have no issues with the setup although the puzzles and other functions are too limited per day which i don’t like. But the main problem i really dislike is the rating system. You’ll be 12 points up and lose on 0.2 difference in time when rules in chess state that you can pause the timer and call it a draw due to overwhelming position and development over the player, but you’re just short on time to checkmate them. The rating should be about how well a player performs and and not solely on winning because i see hundreds of people play the same moves over and over again without actually understanding why they do it, trying to trade pieces and i’ll be ahead of them easily one way or another and then i lose on time, being less than a second behind, but 1 move from checkmate, due to them spamming random moves to run the timer out. I think if you’re up at least 4-5 points even you shouldn’t be demoted points in the rating. You should be awarded on performance and the other player should be awarded on time. Only if you lose by both aspects should you be demoted. Give players credit for playing well and not just playing fast. It ruins the intention of the game to out-strategise your opponent. This system has made me hate the game, despite enjoying the game in itself.

Thank you for this detailed feedback. On Chess.com the ruleset for timeouts is based on the international chess rules, such that the material for the player with time remaining is what determines whether a game ends in a loss or a draw. If you run out of time but your opponent could not possibly checkmate you, the game will be ruled a draw. Otherwise, it will be ruled a loss, since in timed chess, the clock is just as important as the position!

So cluttered and in your face

Nice app but they ruin it with heaps of pop ups that attack you when you first open the app. Like let us open the app and do what we want not be blasted by a bunch of features that aren’t what we want. Have an updates alert sure in the corner but if it pops up all I do is hunt for the x. It’s like when a old beat up car is trying to start and you got to coax it to life. It’s just another thing between starting the car and getting moving.

Also the notification settings are ridiculous, why can’t I see all the notifications in one view vs the 15 odd hidden categories which have you move in and out of to see the options.

If your app is good, I’ll be in it. No need to try nudge us into using it more with all these notifications to see the new feature we didn’t ask for

Developer Response ,

Thank you for this detailed feedback! We like to let players know about the amazing training tools we have to offer (and the free trial!), but you can absolutely play chess for free with friends and new opponents around the world, and that will always be free. We'll also review the notifications settings on the app, since we want this to be as easy as possible for you to keep the notifications you want.
