Excellent product and superb support
I recently started reusing Duet with the improved Duet Display s/w to run my iPadPro (on a Lululook urban magnetic iPad stand) as a second monitor off my aging 27” iMac. The initial problems I had in setting up the system of cable and software were resolved with superb support from Victor of the Support Team. I particularly appreciate the advice of which cable to use and linkage to enable me to purchase it, which saved me a great deal of likely frustration. His advice in response to the initial problems in terms of s/w installation was timely, detailed, and effective. In my full-time work of editing Word documents, I can now have a reference document (that I often need to access) open on the second display, while editing documents on the main screen; so I can speedily view and copy and paste from the reference document to the main document(s). Duet Display boosts my productivity, represents great value, and I highly recommend it.
The Support Team is extremely marvellous
The support team (Sergio) have sent me five emails in total with detailed step by step instructions for me sending them what were happening to my computers, so they could narrow down the possibilities of problems and finally found the way to get the issue sorted out.
The support people is patient and professional. I’m very happy to get the display problem sorted out.
Duet Display is really a handy software, my brother refer it to me. He uses it for connecting Mac with his iPad. I use it connecting my Windows laptop to my iPad. It brings a lot of conveniences and increases productivity. I highly recommend it to all who want to use your iPad as a second screen.
You dont get what you pay for
Duet display advertises itself as lag free and fast. After trying many computers, cables and connection types, I can confirm that duet display is not perfect. It does have some latency and quality problems.
My biggest complaint with Duet is that it advertises functionality such as using your apple pencil and gestures while connect. When you pay for the app, you expect to receive this functionality. However, when launching the app And connecting to your computer, you will be told you need to pay a monthly subscription to access these features. This is unfortunate and comes off as greedy, especially as this app requires an upfront payment.
While yes, this app could be useful on the go, it unfortunately has fallen into the scammy subscription service model that apple has cultivated over the past years.

We do understand your point, and we know it may seem like too much, but in reality, the payment for the subscription is due to the wide range of opportunities that Duet can give our users.
This requires a lot of development to support, and it is only for a small number of users, so the only model that works for us is an ongoing subscription. That is why the main product is a one time purchase, and the niche features like Air & Pro are for a small market but more work.
