New app has gone backwards

Let me start by saying that the old app was excellent, so it’s unfortunate that this new version is worse in every way. Searching simply doesn’t work, the UI is poor, and the categories seem to be inaccurate. I’m hopeful this will change given they obviously know how to build a good app.

It’s also worth mentioning that there is much less value for money than there was a couple of years ago, and many of the old places we used to use discounts for seem to be missing. This is probably a result of COVID but it will be interesting to see whether this changes otherwise it could be the last year I buy it.

Disappointing and hard to navigate

This version is disappointing and hard to use. Problems include:

Having to log in too often. It’s on my phone. I shouldn’t have to log in more than once.
Search feature is rubbish. I don’t want to search by suburb in a small town (ie, anywhere except maybe Auckland). I want to search by town!
The map is OK but not as easy to use as it should be.
Vouchers for places like Subway/KFC etc come up as being 2457km away in another country. Its not clear whether the voucher is going to accepted at the Subway that is 20m away from me right now…
An already redeemed voucher doesn’t say “redeemed”. It says “redeem offer”, but in grey. That’s confusing and silly.
Restaurants and activities that have been permanently closed for months are still showing up. Surely a benefit of a digital app, rather than an actual book, is that it can be kept up to date?
There are a more limited number of places than in the past. Hopefully this is just a consequence of Covid and it will pick up for the next issue. Otherwise you have to start to wonder if it’s worth it.

Regarding the number of offers available, yes COVID had an incredible impact on many of our merchants with some businesses having to close. The good news is that our account managers have been working hard post-covid-19 to introduce new local businesses to the membership to ensure more value for our members and help support the local communities.

Keeps crashing

I downloaded the new app a few weeks ago, used it once, and have not been able to open it since then because it keeps crashing. Not long left before the deals expire and I can’t even use the deals since there’s no hard copy available anymore. Overall a terrible experience with both this app and the old version. I have been purchasing the physical entertainment book for years now to support an organization from my hometown and thought I’d give the app a go as it was the only option for 20/21, but will not renew my membership if this awful app is the only thing they’ll offer going forward.

Just to let you know, we are releasing new updates this week including bug fixes reported for the App crashing, returning to the same list position after viewing an offer, improved keyword and location search functionality, viewing your favourites in list form, the ability to view the restaurant's dining menu, and showing your redeemed offers time and date stamped (+ more!).
