Limited but still useful

Everyone learns in different ways, and I find this to be a somewhat useful supplement to other learning resources. It has definitely improved my ear for French, as I go through the lessons first with the text included and then without, so that I have to really listen to pick up what is being said.

There are a couple of flaws though, for example it does not give the English translation of new words, although I easily compensate for that by typing unfamiliar words into an online translator, so it is not much of a big deal.

Sometimes a description can apply to several images, and it can be hard to figure out which one the question is referring to, and a couple of the test questions are pronounced exactly the same way, so you can be penalised for guessing the wrong image if you have the text turned off. These problems only really matter if your score is really important to you, which it isn't for me.

These problems are slightly irritating, but not worth penalising the software too badly for, I feel. The main limitation, I think, is that all of the pictures are descriptions of objects or actions, for example 'The Red Car Is On The Sand' and 'The Girl Gives The Banana To The Dog'. There are no phrases like 'I Would Like To Buy Three Sausages Please' or 'Where Is The Train Station', although I think this is understandable since these kinds of phrases would be very difficult to convey in images.

In spite of the flaws and limitations, I am still very glad I purchased this software as it really has helped me put together a lot of French I have learned elsewhere, and I am thinking of purchasing other languages in this series as well. Like I said, it is is a useful supplement to other learning material, and not a complete French learning package in itself.

not worth buying

Overly simple, does not show the equivalent word in English so unless you have learned french before its useless. Still can't find out were you input for statistics. Don't buy.
