Simple to use Clearly shows where you are at with goals, graphs, rewards and updates. It may be discouraging when you see the weight going up. The app gives you the brutal reality of where your health is. So you work on one thing (steps or minutes or heart rate or sleep) and then that improves. Great. And then you keep at it and your overall health improves. That is my experience so you can see I like the app. Also nice was the long term report of how many exercise minutes a day I have collected. On my last trip to a doctor I showed him the minutes of exercise for the year and was able to say…”it is real. I have been exercising regularly. “
Bring back the Fitbit app

The new Google Health replacement for the Fitbit app is a disaster. The new app does not provide access to data previously available via the Fitbit app; the replacement interface is jarring, unintuitive, has limited customisation and requires multiple clicks to navigate to useful information; and other settings such as notifications now hinder rather than help. While the new app does support integration with Apple Health, this benefit is outweighed by the general loss in functionality and access to data. As a sufferer of ME/CFS, I rely on my Fitbit to help me manage my energy baseline through the data tracked on sleep, active zone minutes and step count. In the Google app, I can no longer view data relating to hourly step count goals or an itemised list of times of active zone minutes to update my energy baseline records. Data relating to sleep and step count are no longer displayed in a user friendly that enables me to scroll through daily results. These changes have significantly impacted my ability to manage my medical condition. Google Health also now notifies me at half past midnight each day that my sleep is suboptimal. 😑All in all, the change in app has removed much of the functionality that made Fitbit my fitness tracker of choice, and unless there are significant upgrades to the initial app rollout, I will be giving serious thought to switching fitness trackers.

So disappointed. Woke this morning to see my Fitbit app gone and replaced with this. Seemed fine because obviously I had no choice. However the whole ‘today’ is just mud. Can’t highlight the things I want to track and then to find out now at night I can’t even see my correct calorie intake for the day. They use some weird calculation to decide that I have netted less calories than I’ve consumed and give me that number instead. Example.. logged total 1508 in my fitness pal. Google health shows 1081 total calories with 119 left for me to consume. That’s weird. Click into the apple and see that it’s actually has the whole 1508 calories registered under the correct meals etc. Go back out and nope… still saying I have 1081. This amazing app must love inside my metabolism and be able to tell me in real time when consumption calories count and don’t count. What a joke. Just another genius sitting behind a computer trying to make something “better” when it should just be left alone. How stupid. Calorie consumption is calorie consumption. I can’t be the only one who’d want to see what they actually consumed on their dashboard.

If you want to experience a never-ending, soul-crushing loop of failed logins and digital brick walls, download this app immediately.I recently bought a device and tried to register it. Because I had the audacity to possess an old Fitbit account from back before Google bought them out, the app completely lost its mind. It has trapped me in an infinite spiral of "this account belongs to someone else" error messages. I don’t care about preserving twenty years of old workout data—I just want to connect a brand-new piece of hardware; a Fitbit Air to my actual, current Google account. The app simply won't allow it. It is completely unable to handle the basic task of pairing a device to an app. It is staggering that a multi-billion-dollar tech giant can take a perfectly functional ecosystem like Fitbit, force users over to Google Health, and deliver a user experience this broken and frustrating. Now I’m stuck with a useless piece of plastic because the software backend is an absolute joke. Absolutely pathetic.
