Effortlessly take control of your day with Hour Blocks, a day planner app that’s both simple and beautiful. Whether you’re a student, a small business owner, or even a full-time parent, Hour Blocks is the organisational tool that’s missing from your day-to-day life.

FOCUS ON YOUR DAY
Hour Blocks presents a chronological timeline of your next 24 hours, allowing you to focus on what’s truly next, rather than crowding you with anything and everything you have coming up in your life. You can even take advantage of the new iOS 14 home screen with the Hour Blocks widget to show you what's coming up next.

MINIMAL EFFORT, MAXIMUM CONVENIENCE
Simply tap on an Hour Block, type in what you have planned, and you’re done- with a nice icon automatically generated for you. Over time you’ll also start seeing suggested hour blocks based on your previous activity, making the experience even more effortless. You don’t have to abandon using the Calendar app either, as Hour Blocks automatically pulls in events from your calendar.

A SATISFYING EXPERIENCE
Every part of the Hour Blocks experience has been developed to make it as satisfying as possible for you to use. From the playful language to the laid back colour scheme, organising your day doesn’t feel like a chore.

An app that almost is there but it lacks basic functionality which makes it useless.

If you are looking for a simple day planner then Hour Blocks is almost the app I would recommend. Sadly it is missing basic functionality that makes a simple app to use to simple that it is frustrating and misses the target by a long way.
1. If you miss doing the task assigned before or within the hour assigned then forget about trying to edit it afterward to gain access to sub blocks or reassign it to another future time. You miss it because of a distraction during the assigned hour then forget about it. 🥶🤯
2. Sub blocks are uneditable after creating???? Delete and recreate is the only solution!!!!
3. If you want to move the hour block to another time then the only option it seems is a frustrating multiple button entry to move it to future. Drag and drop which is basic functionality for touch device seems to be missing???
4. It would be nice to have a notes field for entry of stuff to remind you at time of doing the task. Forced to use sub blocks which can be a little messy.
5. Appointments made in Apple Calendar app get assigned to top of schedule instead of the hour block it correlates to. Good way to double book your time.

While the app has potential for making an app which dovetails with Calendar for planning your free time for those daily tasks which aren’t so time dependant sadly it looks like I will need to keep searching for the calendar app that works for me. Hour Blocks almost made it for me but the missing functionality is a deal breaker and I suspect for most people.

Developer Response ,

Hey there, thanks for providing feedback!

1. I agree this could be frustrating, and a solution for this is on the roadmap but unfortunately it is quite a low priority at the moment
2. Same as above
3. Drag and drop-able blocks actually was internally tested but it's actually not as intuitive as you may think for an app like this. I've explained my decision in this blog post: https://www.eledev.digital/blog/a-more-intuitive-schedule
4. Whilst I agree, the whole purpose of this app is to not flood it with too many details, otherwise it just becomes another calendar app.
5. This actually was a recent change, as they used to show in-line. Not only did this cause bugs (especially when calendar events crossed across different days), but it also didn't make a lot of sense a lot of the time. If I had an event finishing at 5:20pm, do I occupy the 6pm block? Or do I forego the remaining 20 minutes and only occupy the 5pm block? It was too messy this way, hence they're separated at the top nowadays.

I understand the app is not for everybody (which is why I wish Apple would allow free trials on paid apps), so I'm happy to direct you to Apple's refund process: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084
