Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been waiting for this game my whole life.
Not kidding. This is off the charts special. For anyone who likes the heart of games like Zelda, or the epicness of final fantasy - mix them together, weed out the fighting, throw some serious imagination and magic in the mix and you have the perfect blend of a game that has epic adventure, intuitive game play, the most stunning visuals, enough mystery to keep your mind stimulated and the biggest overdue dose of heart like no other game I’ve played. There is enough anonymity for those who prefer it yet it seems to bring out the best in people and helps them connect through simple empathy. Well overdue in the times we live and play in. So glad I came across it.
Too busy
I’ve played this since the first alpha and honestly... I think that’s when it was a it’s best. Yes the graphics and sound effects are far more polished now, but there’s just too much going on and it seems like they lost sight of what this game was supposed to be, just tried it again recently and I had to put it down after about 20 mins, I played the beta at least 20 times and loved it. Very disappointed.
Edit for clarification:
its hard to exactly put into words but I’ll do my best, when playing the game during the alpha it was a fairly smooth experience (albeit buggy), with very little in the way of video sequences. But with the latest iteration I seemed to be interrupted from playing every couple of minutes by something going on, many of the puzzles and challenges were completed by other players before I even got a chance to find out what the puzzle was. There were pop ups for something happening every 30 seconds or so - unlocks or new candles etc. I think the most frustrating thing was how often gameplay was interrupted by a video sequence and stopped me from playing and exploring, and sometimes unexpectedly.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for sharing your honest feedback. Could you clarify what it is that has changed, or that we have lost sight of?
Idk what to think
I’ve been playing this game for about 3 years now, I took a break for half a year and coming back to the game now here are my thoughts:
The controls are annoying. Especially when collecting spirits that require staying in the circle, although it’s meant to be challenging it becomes frustrating instead, due to how inconsistent and buggy the controls are and can be.
The cosmetics are great, visually aesthetic and fits different styles for the range of players. However, the cosmetics are almost inaccessible. Travelling spirits cosmetics are ridiculously overpriced and requires weeks and weeks of grinding candle runs to be able to achieve any kind of progress. The buggy controls make this frustrating to do.
I feel like the prices of candles CAN be reasonable, but only to those who really love the game. Being a casual player in this game really won’t allow you to achieve anything, you’ll be slow to improve your friendships with spirits, you’ll barely receive hearts (an insanely difficult currency to obtain), you’ll also have a lack of candles without purchasing.
That being said, if you like the game aesthetically and don’t mind not having cosmetics, the game is great. It’s calming yet still has challenges, and can be fun to play for a couple hours a day. Just don’t expect to make great progress in the game unless you grind it daily, which can sometimes take the fun out of it.
